Move-In Tips For Students:
- Check your school housing site for their recommended packing list
- Pack as much as you can in large boxes no bigger than 18x18x24. Makes it easier to move
- If you can’t pick it up, it’s too heavy to move
- Label each box for move-in with name, hall and room number
- Contact your roommate before you buy anything to see what he or she plans to bring
- Pack your TV, computer and printer in the boxes that they came in.
- If you need to travel by air for move-in, purchase your major items in the city/town of the University.
- If you plan on living off campus your 2nd year, consider renting a MicroFridge (combo Frig and microwave) for your stay on campus
- Consider a water program (water cooler and jugs delivered to your door) if attending a school located in a hot climate. Reduces your costs considerably and great for the planet.
- A bathrobe is a good investment if your bathroom is down the hall. You'll need a shower caddy to keep all of your shower items
- Surveys have shown that females bring 33% more stuff to school than males, which asks the question: “Do you really need that many shoes?”

USS is now offering an easy, secure and inexpensive way to store your belongings for the Summer. Please follow the steps below to place your order or call 888-USS-1113 for more information. Don't drag your stuff home for the summer just to bring it back in the fall! Use the University and Student Services' Summer Storage Program. We have partnered with OU to provide onsite storage for your personal effects all summer long. Just bring your summer storage items to the USS laundry drop off site located in the lobby of Adams every Monday and Thursday between 4:30 and 7:30 and we will check you in and store it for you. Boxes and tape are available for sale too.

Express Move-In Coming Fall 2012:

Housing and Food Services has partnered with USS Inc. to offer an Express Move-In Service for OU students. The price is only $159 to save you time and help ease the anxiety of the move.
While others are rushing to unload all their belongings, you will be unpacked and relaxing in your new home, thanks to the Express Move-In Service. By signing up for Express Move-In you receive a special pass granting you access to the Express Move-In automobile unloading lane. Once in the lane a team member will unload your car while you pick up your room key from the Express Move-in registration desk. They will carry your items to your room for you. You never have to lift a finger!

Your Express Move In Package will be emailed to you the first week of August. Express move-in times are assigned according to when you purchase. Move-in times start at 7:00am. Please send an email to info@universityandstudentservices.com if you would like a specific time reserved for your move-in day. It will be on a first come/first serve basis and we will try to accommodate your request. There are no guarantees on a fixed time.
Please note that there are no unloading zones adjacent to buildings except for Express Move-In. To maintain traffic control, all other parking and unloading is available in the designated blue areas listed on the map.

Sign up for the USS Laundry Program. Your service will begin Tuesday January 17th (due to the holiday) and continue throughout the semester. Any items that you want to be laundered can be placed in the USS laundry bag and we will pick it up once a week. Your laundry will be washed, dried, folded and returned to the Adams Hall drop off location.
Service Days are Mondays & Thursdays. Drop your bag off between 4:30 and 7:30 on one service day, and it will be ready for pick-up the next service day. Laundry will be returned fluffed, folded and ready to be put back in your dresser.
Service for the Spring semester begins Tuesday January 17th, 2012.
Note: The Laundry Program is a semester charge of $189.00. Students who ordered the 1st semester laundry program will be automatically charged $189.00 to their credit card in January 2012 for the 2nd semester, unless you contact USS to cancel.

Laundry Instructions For Spring 2012 Participants:

Pick up your bag at our convenient USS Laundry drop off center on the ground floor of Adams starting Tuesday January 17th (due to the Holiday) between the hours of 4:30pm and 7:30pm. The USS attendant will give you your bag and ask you to fill out your identification tag. If you can't make Monday, drop by on Thursday during the same hours
HOURS: The USS drop off site is open every Monday and Thursday during the hours of 4:30pm and 7:30pm.
SERVICE DATES: Service begins the week of Tuesday January 17th, due to the Holiday.
FAQ's:
- What if I miss my Monday drop, can I drop off my clothes on Thursday?
Yes, you are welcome to drop off your clothes on either Mondays or Thursdays, however for a quicker turn-around time, we encourage students to drop off on Monday, so they have them back by Thursday. Remember, you are allowed only one bag of laundry cleaned a week.
- What is the size of the bag and what can I put in the bag?
Your bag holds approx. 20lbs of clothing. Put anything that can be laundered and doesn't require ironing. No dry cleaning items. Items will be fluffed, dried, folded, packed in plastic and ready to be put in your drawers. Please make sure the bag will close. Bags that are over stuffed and cannot close will not be picked up.

Our Keep It Clean program includes every other week bathroom cleaning just for you. Bathroom Cleaning service includes a full cleaning of toilet and shower stall, including the shower door/curtain, walls, floor, fixtures, sweep and wet mop the bathroom floor, as well as dust light fixtures and all high corners for dust/cobwebs. This service is per semester and per room.

Bathroom Cleaning Instructions For Spring 2012 Participants
The scheduled weeks of service for the 2nd semester begins Tuesday January 17th.
Special note: Our housekeepers are forbidden to move your items from the floor or sink area. Please remove any items from the sink or counter area, or push everything to one end. You will need to pick up your bathroom rugs or mats so that our housekeepers can mop the floor. They will not lay the mats/rugs back down because the floor will be wet.
Service will not begin until after 10:00am on the scheduled morning.
You do not need to be in the room for our housekeepers to service the bathroom. If you are sleeping, they will ask if you wish them to proceed with the cleaning while you catch up on your rest. Remember, if you decline service, they will not return and you forfeit that week's cleaning. | |
